PESCO Job Quota Update Explains Eligible Pending Claims

The PESCO job quota review has officially moved forward after the Peshawar Electric Supply Company asked all field offices to submit details of pending employment quota cases. The review applies only to eligible claims linked to employees who died during service, including electrocution cases, and will determine which cases can proceed under the existing policy.

The company has issued a formal notification directing its field formations to send complete records of pending cases to the Head Office through a special messenger by July 30, 2026. Officials have also made it clear that claims submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

PESCO job quota review limited to older pending cases

According to the notification, only those cases that originated before the Supreme Court’s decision of October 18, 2024 will be reviewed. The process will be carried out in line with the clarification issued by the Federal Constitutional Court.

This means the review is not open to fresh applications. Instead, it focuses on unresolved cases that were already pending before the court ruling changed how such recruitment cases are handled.

What happens after document verification?

Once the pending cases are scrutinized, PESCO will begin the interview process for applicants whose claims qualify under the Pesco job quota policy.

To avoid delays, all field offices have been instructed to immediately forward complete reports and supporting documents to the Head Office within the prescribed timeline.

Why this update matters

The review provides clarity for families whose employment quota claims have remained pending. It also establishes a firm deadline and confirms that only eligible pre-October 2024 cases will move forward.

The notification follows broader policy changes introduced by the federal government regarding compassionate employment for families of deceased public servants.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved amendments to the recruitment policy under the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package. Following those changes, children of government employees who die during service are no longer entitled to government jobs under the previous son quota policy.

The revised policy was implemented in accordance with a Supreme Court decision, after which the Establishment Division instructed ministries and divisions to adopt the new rules.

However, the changes do not affect all beneficiaries. The government has confirmed that the decision does not apply to the families of law enforcement martyrs or those who lost their lives while fighting terrorism. Likewise, heirs whose appointments were made before the policy change remain unaffected.

As PESCO job quota completes its review, only eligible pending claims submitted within the announced timeline will be considered for the next stage of recruitment.
