A serious Motorway robbery in Pakistan has been reported on the M9 Motorway, where armed suspects looted a truck carrying edible oil worth millions of rupees. The vehicle was traveling from Karachi port to Sialkot when it was intercepted near a housing scheme in Jamshoro district.
Police officials confirmed that seven armed men were involved in the robbery. The attackers reportedly arrived in a double-cabin vehicle and stopped the goods truck during transit.
Truck intercepted during transport
According to the FIR filed at Nooriabad police station, the truck was carrying a large shipment of cooking oil intended for delivery in Sialkot. The manager of the transport company stated that the driver and cleaner were taken hostage during the incident.
The suspects allegedly blindfolded both individuals and tied their hands and feet before taking control of the vehicle.
Victims were left in a remote area
After the robbery, the driver and cleaner were reportedly dropped several kilometers away from the main site in a deserted area. They later managed to contact authorities and inform them about the incident.
The transport company estimates the stolen goods to be worth around Rs. 2 crore. Police are currently investigating the case and trying to trace the suspects involved in the highway robbery.
Investigation underway
Law enforcement officials have started collecting evidence from the crime scene and the surrounding areas. Authorities are also reviewing possible routes used by the attackers after the incident.
Highway robberies remain a concern in some regions, especially involving goods transport between major cities. Police say efforts are ongoing to improve surveillance and response on key motorway routes.
The case has once again raised concerns about cargo security on national highways, highlighting risks faced by transport companies during long-distance deliveries.
