Islamabad cattle markets will be formally established across the federal capital ahead of Eid al-Adha, as the district administration prepares to manage the expected surge in livestock trade activity. The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has approved the setup of six official cattle markets, which will start operations from May 10.
The move aims to streamline the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals and ensure organized facilities for citizens during the Eid season.
Six designated locations across Islamabad
According to the district administration, the approved sites for the Islamabad cattle markets include Zia Masjid, I-12, Barakahu, Lehtrar Road near Sultana Foundation, Sangjani, and Japan Road.
Officials said these locations were selected to distribute traffic flow and reduce overcrowding in a single area. The arrangement is expected to make access easier for residents from different parts of the city.
Administrative arrangements and monitoring
The Deputy Commissioner directed all relevant departments to complete essential arrangements before the markets became operational. These include parking facilities, sanitation services, and security deployment.
Authorities also confirmed that a magistrate will be present at each cattle market around the clock. The magistrate’s role will be to monitor daily operations and ensure compliance with official guidelines.
Strict action will be taken against overcharging. The administration said complaints regarding prices above officially notified rates will be resolved immediately.
Traffic and enforcement measures
To manage increased traffic during the Eid period, the district administration has instructed coordination with the traffic police. Special traffic plans will be implemented around all designated cattle markets.
Officials further stated that the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals outside approved Islamabad cattle markets will not be allowed. The decision aims to control illegal roadside setups and maintain public order.
The administration emphasized that these steps are part of a broader effort to ensure a safe, organized, and convenient Eid experience for residents.
