Sindh Pink Games Postponed as Heatwave Intensifies

The Sindh Pink Games postponed decision has been taken as extreme heat continues to grip the province, raising safety concerns for athletes and organizers. The Sindh government confirmed the delay after weather conditions worsened across several districts.

The event was scheduled to take place from May 8 to May 10 in Nawabshah (Shaheed Benazirabad). However, sports associations urged authorities to reconsider due to rising temperatures and health risks.

Around 1,500 athletes were expected to compete in 21 different sports. Officials said the decision aims to protect participants from heat-related illnesses. New dates for the games will be announced soon.

Heatwave Raises Serious Concerns

Weather conditions across Sindh remain harsh, with temperatures climbing to dangerous levels in multiple cities. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast extreme heat in southern regions.

Turbat may see temperatures reach 45°C, while cities like Nawabshah, Mithi, and Jacobabad could hit 44°C. Other areas, including Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana, are also expected to experience intense heat around 42°C.

In Karachi, temperatures are slightly lower but still uncomfortable, with hot and dry conditions continuing.

Athlete Safety Takes Priority

Officials said the decision to delay the event was necessary to ensure the well-being of participants. High temperatures can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other health risks, especially during outdoor sports.

Sports authorities emphasized that player safety remains the top priority. They also assured that preparations for the event will continue once weather conditions improve.

The Sindh Pink Games is an important platform for female athletes across the province. The delay may affect schedules, but officials believe it is a necessary step under current conditions.
