Pakistan has introduced a Focus Keyword: Pakistan passport fee update for citizens living in Oman, bringing revised passport charges and stricter penalties that will take effect from May 1, 2026.
The Embassy of Pakistan in Oman has officially announced the new fee structure along with updated rules for passport loss. The changes apply to Pakistani nationals residing in the country and are aimed at improving document management and reducing repeated losses.
Officials say the revised system includes both increased fees and stricter financial penalties, especially for individuals who lose their passports more than once.
New passport fee structure
Under the updated system, passport charges vary depending on validity and service type.
For a 5-year passport with 36 pages, the normal fee has been set at 12 Omani Riyals, while the urgent fee is 19 Omani Riyals.
For a 10-year passport with 36 pages, the fee starts from 17 Omani Riyals, depending on service category.
The embassy has also confirmed that these charges will officially apply from May 1, 2026.
Strict penalties for lost passports
Along with the revised fees, authorities have introduced a penalty system for lost passports.
If a passport is lost for the first time, applicants will be required to pay double the original fee.
In case of a second loss, the penalty increases significantly, reaching up to four times the original cost.
Officials warned that repeated negligence could lead to a heavy financial burden. For example, losing a 100-page urgent passport for the second time may cost up to 208 Omani Riyals, which is approximately Rs 150,000 in Pakistani currency.
Authorities urge careful handling
The embassy has urged Pakistani citizens to handle their passports with extreme care. Officials stressed that even minor negligence could lead to delays, higher costs, and administrative difficulties.
They said the new system aims to reduce repeated loss of travel documents and improve applicant accountability.
The Pakistan passport fee update is expected to impact many expatriates, especially those frequently traveling between Pakistan and Gulf countries.
Citizens should review the new fee structure and ensure compliance before applying or renewing passports.
