An AirSial flight turbulence incident disrupted travel between Karachi and Islamabad on Sunday when a passenger aircraft encountered severe weather mid-air, forcing an emergency diversion to Sialkot. The flight landed safely, though passengers reported a tense and unsettling journey.
The AirSial flight PF-125, operating from Karachi to Islamabad, faced intense turbulence while crossing unstable weather conditions. The aircraft shook for nearly 30 minutes, according to passengers onboard, causing concern among families and elderly travelers.
Flight diverted to Sialkot amid turbulence
Due to worsening weather conditions, the pilot decided to divert the flight to Sialkot Airport instead of continuing to Islamabad. Aviation officials confirmed that the decision was taken as a precaution to ensure passenger safety.
Passengers described the experience as highly stressful. Many reported continuous shaking of the aircraft and sudden drops in altitude felt during the turbulent phase. Some passengers said panic spread inside the cabin as the situation continued.
After landing safely in Sialkot, further confusion arose when several passengers refused to continue the journey on the same aircraft. They raised concerns about safety following the mid-air turbulence incident.
Reports suggest tensions escalated inside the aircraft when passengers were not immediately allowed to disembark. Some travelers staged protests and demanded clearance to leave the plane, citing fear and discomfort after the incident.
Videos shared from inside the aircraft showed passengers arguing with airline staff. The situation remained tense for some time before it was eventually managed on the ground.
AirSial has not yet released a detailed official statement regarding the incident or addressed passenger complaints publicly. However, aviation sources confirmed that the diversion followed standard safety protocols during severe weather conditions.
No injuries were reported, and the aircraft landed safely without a technical failure.
Air travel experts say turbulence incidents are common during monsoon-like or unstable weather patterns in the region. However, they stress that modern aircraft are designed to handle such conditions safely.
The incident has sparked renewed discussion on passenger communication during flight disruptions and the handling of post-landing situations in emergency diversions.
