A new Youth Skills Training initiative has been launched in Pakistan to help young people build practical abilities and improve their chances of employment in high-demand sectors. The program aims to bridge the gap between education and job opportunities by offering free vocational training focused on industry needs.
The initiative has been introduced through a collaboration between the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the Livestock Exporters Association of Pakistan (LEAP), and supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) along with the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme. Officials say the goal is to equip youth with job-ready skills that can directly lead to income-generating opportunities.
The program comes at a time when Pakistan continues to focus on skill development as a key driver of employment and economic growth. Authorities believe that practical training can help reduce unemployment and support industries facing a shortage of skilled workers.
Training areas offered under the program
Under the new initiative, selected candidates will receive three months of free training in specialized fields linked to the livestock and food export sectors. Authorities have identified these sectors as high-potential areas for job creation and international trade.
The training modules include Assistant Slaughterer or Helper (Level-II), Fish Farming, Cold Chain Management, Export Logistics Certification Practices, Meat Processing, Value Addition, and Preservation techniques. These areas match market demand and improve employability in local and international markets.
Officials say the program focuses on hands-on learning rather than theoretical study. Participants will receive training in practical environments that reflect real workplace conditions. This approach will help trainees transition more easily into jobs after completion.
Eligibility and registration process
The program is open to individuals between the ages of 18 and 40 years. Applicants must have at least a middle or matric-level education to qualify for enrollment. Training centers have opened in Mardan and Peshawar, with limited seats for each course.
Organizers encourage early registration due to high expected demand. Candidates can apply through the NSIS portal.
The application deadline has been set for 16 June 2026. After this date, authorities may not consider applications based on seat availability and training capacity.
Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen workforce development and provide youth with practical job opportunities. By focusing on sectors like livestock, fisheries, and export logistics, the program aims to create sustainable employment pathways.
NAVTTC, SIFC, and private partners collaborate to align skills training with market needs in Pakistan. Experts believe that such partnerships are essential for improving employment outcomes and supporting economic stability.
These initiatives will reduce unemployment and equip youth with technical skills.
