Free Laptops, Stipends Offered Under Punjab Women Scheme

The Punjab government has launched the e-Learn She Earn programme to help women build digital skills and start online careers from home. The initiative includes free laptops, monthly stipends, and online training for selected participants across the province.

The new e-Learn She Earn scheme carries a budget of Rs700 million and aims to increase economic opportunities for women through freelancing, remote work, and digital entrepreneurship.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif introduced the programme as part of efforts to reduce the digital gap and improve women’s participation in Pakistan’s online economy.

The training programme will run for three months and focus on high-demand digital fields. Participants will receive professional instruction in digital marketing, e-commerce, graphic design, virtual assistance, and online customer support.

Officials said the initiative will help women earn income from home while gaining internationally relevant skills. Authorities also plan to support participants with internet access and professional certifications after course completion.

The programme is being managed jointly by the Punjab Skills Development Fund and the Women Development Department, Punjab.

Applicants aged 15 to 35 can apply, while some courses also accept candidates up to 40 years old. Applicants must be permanent residents of Punjab and hold valid identification documents.

Officials added that admissions will be merit-based and may include an assessment process before final selection.

The initiative comes as freelancing and remote work grow in popularity among Pakistan’s youth and women seeking flexible jobs.

Experts say programs like e-Learn She Earn can boost digital skills and help more women enter the global online market.
