The Cambridge Maths Leak has triggered a major disruption in international examinations after Cambridge International Education cancelled the AS Level Mathematics paper and announced a full retake scheduled for June 2026.
Cambridge International confirmed that the AS Level Mathematics Paper 9709/12 was leaked before the scheduled exam. As a result, the board decided to cancel the paper completely to protect fairness and academic integrity.
The decision affects thousands of students across multiple regions, including candidates in Pakistan and other countries where Cambridge exams are widely taken.
Retake Date Confirmed for Affected Students
Cambridge International has announced that a replacement examination will take place on 9 June 2026. All affected students will be required to retake the paper.
The board clarified that no additional fee will be charged for the retake. Schools and examination centers will receive detailed instructions by 15 May 2026 to help manage the revised exam schedule.
Despite the disruption, Cambridge confirmed that the overall results release date of 11 August 2026 will remain unchanged.
Investigation Launched Into Cambridge Maths Leak
Following the incident, Cambridge International has launched a formal investigation into the Cambridge Maths Leak. The organisation is working with law enforcement authorities to identify individuals responsible for sharing the confidential exam material.
Officials also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in leaking or distributing exam content. This may include permanent bans from future Cambridge examinations.
The board said it is also monitoring social media platforms where leaked or fake exam papers are being circulated and sold.
Warning to Students and Parents
Cambridge International has strongly advised students and parents to avoid fake exam papers being shared online. It described many of these as part of “paper leak mafias” that mislead candidates and create confusion before exams.
Students have been urged to focus on their remaining examinations instead of relying on unverified material. The board stressed that only official Cambridge resources should be trusted for preparation.
Commitment to Exam Security
Cambridge International reiterated its commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent examination system. It said protecting the integrity of assessments remains a top priority, especially after the recent Cambridge Maths Leak incident.
The cancellation highlights growing concerns about exam security in the digital age, where leaked content can quickly spread across social media platforms.
For students, the sudden cancellation has caused inconvenience and stress. However, education experts say the retake ensures fairness and protects honest candidates from unfair advantage.
As the investigation continues, further updates are expected from Cambridge International in the coming weeks.
