The government has made it easier for low-income families to support their children’s education through the BISP scholarship application process, offering financial help for school-going students across Pakistan.
The initiative, launched under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), aims to reduce dropout rates and encourage families to keep their children in school. The program provides quarterly stipends, with slightly higher amounts for girls to promote female education.
Simple Registration Process
Parents can complete the registration in a few straightforward steps. First, they need to visit the nearest BISP center along with their child. Officials require a valid B-Form issued by NADRA and a mobile number already registered with BISP.
After verification, the family receives an enrolment slip. This slip must be taken to the child’s school, where teachers and administration fill in the required academic details. Once completed, the form is submitted back to the BISP office for processing.
Authorities say the process has been simplified to ensure maximum participation, especially from rural and underserved areas.
Key Eligibility Conditions
Not every family qualifies for the program. The mother must already be a registered BISP beneficiary. Without this, the child cannot be enrolled.
Students must also maintain at least 70 percent attendance. Officials stress that consistent school attendance is a core condition for continued financial support. If a student changes schools, parents must inform BISP immediately to update records.
Scholarship Amounts and Benefits
The program offers financial support every three months. Payments vary depending on the student’s education level and gender.
Primary school students receive smaller stipends, while higher secondary students get larger amounts. Girls receive slightly higher payments at each level. In addition, girls receive a bonus after completing primary education, which encourages them to continue schooling.
