The local administration issued an official notification confirming that gatherings of more than four people are now prohibited. The ban covers rallies, protests, sit-ins, and processions. Officials said the restrictions will remain in place until May 5.
Law enforcement agencies have stepped up security across key points in Murree. Police and other personnel are actively monitoring public spaces to prevent violations. Authorities warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found breaching the orders.
A detailed security plan has also been put into action. Officials are focusing on preventing unauthorized gatherings while ensuring normal tourist activity continues without disruption. Special traffic arrangements have been introduced to manage the expected flow of visitors.
Despite the restrictions, the administration says efforts are being made to facilitate tourists. Murree remains open for travel, but visitors are advised to follow guidelines and avoid large group activities. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate fully with security forces.
The situation has also drawn attention to a separate issue involving water supply between provinces. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has raised concerns over water extraction from the Galiyat region to Murree. Officials claim that large quantities of water are being transported daily without a formal agreement, worsening local shortages.
In response, KP authorities have demanded dues amounting to billions of rupees and called for a formal arrangement between provinces. They have also asked for a halt to certain construction activities linked to water storage in the area.
