Sindh Reports Nine Deaths Amid Rising Monkeypox Cases

The Monkeypox situation in Sindh is worsening, with nine deaths reported as suspected and confirmed cases continue to rise across the province. Health officials say the surge has raised serious public health concerns, especially in vulnerable districts.

According to the Sindh health department, 122 suspected cases have been recorded so far. Out of these, at least 25 cases have been officially confirmed. The recent increase in infections highlights the growing scale of the Sindh monkeypox outbreak.

In the past 24 hours alone, two new cases have emerged—one in Karachi and another in Khairpur. Khairpur remains the most affected district, reporting the highest number of confirmed cases. Karachi and Sukkur have also recorded multiple infections, though on a smaller scale.

Health authorities have moved quickly to contain the spread. Major hospitals across Sindh have set up dedicated isolation wards to manage patients. Surveillance teams are actively collecting and transporting samples for testing, while contact tracing efforts are underway to identify individuals who may have been exposed.

Officials are also focusing on strict infection control inside hospitals. Medical staff have been instructed to follow sterilization protocols and use protective equipment to prevent further transmission.

The government has urged citizens to stay alert and seek medical help if they notice symptoms such as fever, rash, or body aches. Special attention is advised for newborns and infants, who may face higher risks from the virus.

Public health experts stress that early detection and responsible behavior can help limit the spread. They also emphasize the importance of awareness, especially in high-risk areas like Khairpur.

As the situation evolves, authorities continue to monitor the outbreak closely and expand response measures to prevent further loss of life.
