The proposed Iran War Deal has outlined a framework to end hostilities between the United States and Iran, with Pakistan playing a key role as a mediator in the negotiations.
Leaders from all sides announced that military operations would stop immediately under a preliminary agreement. The memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed in Switzerland later this week, marking the first formal step toward ending the conflict.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the agreement includes a permanent halt to military operations. Officials from Washington and Tehran also confirmed that both sides would move forward with diplomatic talks on several unresolved issues.
One of the most significant elements of the agreement involves the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route. The United States and Iran said they will restore commercial maritime traffic to normal after signing the memorandum.
Iranian officials stated that all commercial vessels would be allowed to pass through the strait. Reports from Iran also indicated that Iran and Oman would coordinate to manage maritime traffic.
The agreement also addresses concerns surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities. Iran will temporarily pause nuclear development during ongoing talks, according to Iran.
The United States and Iran will continue talks for 60 days on nuclear and sanctions issues.
According to Iranian officials, Washington has agreed not to impose new sanctions during the negotiation period. Tehran also expects discussions on easing oil-related restrictions and eventually removing broader sanctions under a final agreement.
Another major point involves Iran’s frozen financial assets. Iranian representatives said discussions include the possible release of billions of dollars in frozen funds and future economic cooperation. However, U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that no direct cash payments would be provided, while leaving open the possibility of sanctions relief.
The framework also touches on regional security concerns. Pakistani and Iranian officials said the ceasefire would extend to Lebanon. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called for an end to attacks in Lebanon as part of the broader peace effort.
Despite the announcement, several important issues remain unresolved. The next phase of negotiations will focus on a comprehensive agreement covering nuclear oversight, sanctions relief, regional security, and long-term stability.
Iranian reports also suggested that Iran and Oman would coordinate maritime traffic management.
