The latest PMD Weather Forecast indicates that several areas of Sindh and Balochistan may experience strong dusty winds, thunderstorms, and light rainfall in the coming days, offering some relief from the ongoing heatwave affecting much of Pakistan.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), hot and dry weather continues to dominate most parts of the country. Temperatures remained extremely high on Monday, with several cities recording readings above 40 degrees Celsius.
Sibi reported the highest temperature at 47°C, followed by Dadu at 45°C. Bahawalpur recorded 42°C, while Multan reached 41°C. Hyderabad registered 40°C during the day.
In other major cities, Lahore and Faisalabad recorded 38°C, Islamabad and Peshawar reached 37°C, while Karachi and Quetta experienced comparatively lower temperatures of 35°C.
The weather department expects strong winds and isolated thunderstorms in parts of Sindh and Balochistan. Light rainfall is also likely in some areas, which could temporarily reduce temperatures and improve weather conditions.
The forecast comes as large parts of Pakistan continue to face intense summer heat. Meteorologists have advised residents to limit unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak afternoon hours. Citizens are also encouraged to stay hydrated and take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
Apart from Sindh and Balochistan, the PMD has predicted scattered rain and thunderstorms in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and nearby mountainous regions. These areas may receive intermittent showers accompanied by gusty winds.
Weather experts say the expected rainfall activity is not likely to end the heatwave completely but may provide short-term relief in affected regions. Dusty winds could also reduce visibility in some locations, prompting motorists to exercise caution while traveling.
The PMD continues to monitor weather patterns and has urged the public to stay updated through official forecasts and advisories.
As temperatures stay high, authorities advise drinking water, avoiding outdoor heat, and staying in shade.
