The PEC GET Program Jobs initiative has taken a major step forward as the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) successfully placed around 1,700 fresh engineering graduates in leading public and private sector organizations across Pakistan. The program aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry experience, giving young engineers a structured pathway into professional careers.
According to official details, more than 1,300 graduates have already joined the second batch of the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program. The remaining selected candidates are expected to complete onboarding formalities in the upcoming phases.
Transparent Digital Selection Process
PEC used a fully digital balloting system to ensure transparency and merit-based selection. A total of 1,700 engineers were shortlisted through this process at the end of March.
Officials say the digital system was designed to eliminate bias and improve fairness in job distribution. The process has been widely appreciated by both students and participating organizations.
Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir described the system as a step toward modernizing recruitment in Pakistan’s engineering sector. He said the initiative not only focuses on employment but also on professional skill-building.
Training Across 60+ Organizations
Selected graduates have been placed in more than 60 organizations, including public departments, private companies, and semi-government institutions.
These placements cover a wide range of engineering fields such as civil, electrical, mechanical, and software-related disciplines. The program also includes participation from federal and provincial departments, as well as institutions in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Each organization has committed to providing hands-on experience through real-time projects, fieldwork, and technical assignments. This approach helps young engineers understand industry requirements early in their careers.
Structured Training and Monthly Stipend
The PEC GET Program offers a six-month structured training cycle. It includes five months of field-based learning and one month of focused skill development sessions.
Participants receive a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000 during the program. Upon completion, engineers are awarded a QR-verified certificate that validates their training experience.
Officials say this certification will improve employability and help graduates compete in both local and international job markets.
Special Focus on Regional Inclusion
The program also highlights regional inclusion, with 300 seats exclusively reserved for engineering graduates from Balochistan. All reserved seats have been filled successfully.
This step aims to improve representation from underdeveloped regions and ensure equal access to professional opportunities across Pakistan.
Education experts believe this inclusion policy could help reduce the skills gap between provinces and strengthen national integration in technical fields.
Industry-Academia Bridge Strengthened
The PEC GET Program is being seen as a major effort to bridge the long-standing gap between universities and industry requirements.
Many fresh graduates in Pakistan face challenges in securing jobs due to a lack of practical experience. This program directly addresses that issue by offering real workplace exposure.
Officials say participating companies will also benefit by getting trained young talent who can adapt quickly to professional environments.
Positive Response from Graduates
Early feedback from selected engineers shows strong satisfaction with the program. Many participants have already begun orientation sessions and onboarding at their assigned organizations.
Graduates describe the initiative as a valuable opportunity to gain confidence, technical skills, and workplace discipline.
Industry representatives have also welcomed the program, stating that it creates a win-win situation for both employers and young professionals.
