A nationwide Pakistan heatwave alert has been issued as temperatures rise sharply across the country, with officials warning of serious health risks in the coming days. The Pakistan Meteorological Department said the current heatwave could push temperatures 4 to 6°C above normal in several regions.
Southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan are expected to face the most intense conditions. Cities in these areas may see extreme daytime heat, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses. Coastal regions, including Karachi, are also likely to experience higher temperatures despite sea breezes.
Authorities say the heatwave is likely to continue through the end of April and into early May. Health experts have urged people to take precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours.
Children, elderly individuals, and people with existing health conditions remain the most vulnerable. Doctors recommend drinking plenty of water, avoiding direct sunlight, and wearing light, breathable clothing.
Authorities have placed emergency services across Pakistan on alert. The government has also directed departments to prepare response measures for heatstroke cases and related emergencies.
Weather officials also warned that dry winds from the west could bring dusty conditions to some areas, adding to the discomfort. Advise citizens to limit outdoor activities and stay updated with official weather advisories.
The ongoing heatwave highlights the need for public awareness and timely precautions as temperatures continue to climb across the country.
