The motorcycle indicator fine has officially been set at Rs2000 as the Punjab Traffic Police move to tighten road safety rules across the province. Authorities announced that motorcyclists riding without functional indicators will now face immediate penalties under the new enforcement drive.
According to the Traffic Police Punjab, the decision aims to reduce road accidents caused by careless lane changes and missing signals. Officials stressed that indicators are a basic safety requirement, not an optional feature, and ignoring them puts both riders and other road users at serious risk.
The department has started a province-wide awareness and enforcement campaign, urging bikers to ensure their motorcycles are properly equipped and roadworthy. Traffic officials warned that enforcement will be strict, and no leniency will be shown to violators.
Focus on Road Safety
Traffic police noted that many accidents in urban areas result from sudden turns and lane changes without proper signaling. They said that functional indicators can significantly reduce confusion on busy roads and help prevent collisions.
Officials also pointed out that maintaining indicators is not costly. In many cases, repairs or replacements cost around a few hundred rupees. They added that a small investment in vehicle maintenance can help save lives and avoid penalties.
Along with the motorcycle indicator fine, authorities have reinforced other safety rules, including mandatory helmet use and proper motorcycle maintenance. Riders are being encouraged to regularly check their vehicles before hitting the road.
Strict Enforcement Ahead
Punjab Traffic Police confirmed that checking teams will be deployed across major cities and highways. These teams will monitor violations and issue challans on the spot.
Officials said the aim is to improve driving behavior and reduce road accidents, not just collect fines.
They urged citizens to follow traffic laws responsibly and understand that such measures are designed for public safety, not inconvenience.
