Pakistan to Launch 5G Pilot Services in Major Cities Next Week, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital transformation. The pilot rollout will start in key urban centers, offering faster connectivity and improved 4G service performance. Pakistan’s 5G launch timeline indicates full commercial services will follow in the next few months, making high-speed mobile internet in Pakistan more widely accessible.
Federal IT Minister of Pakistan, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced that the pilot phase is possible after the successful completion of the 5G spectrum auction in Pakistan. Telecom operators in Pakistan secured positions in the 2600 MHz spectrum band and the 3500 MHz spectrum band, allowing network deployment in Pakistan to move forward quickly. In total, the 480 MHz spectrum sold brought $510 million in spectrum revenue, equivalent to Rs. 142 billion telecom auction proceeds.
PTA and the Frequency Allocation Board are preparing Pakistan’s spectrum and broadband for the rollout. Submarine internet cables, Pakistan, and Pakistan Armed Forces spectrum clearance have also strengthened digital infrastructure development. This next-generation network will boost 4G, launch urban 5G, and shape Pakistan’s telecom future.
Telecom companies in Pakistan are now responsible for network deployment, testing 5G internet speed in Pakistan, and expanding mobile broadband. Experts say 5G pilot services in Pakistan will enhance connectivity for smart devices, e-commerce, and online education. The rollout also positions Pakistan higher in the global spectrum availability ranking and boosts Pakistan’s technology development.
