Punjab Launches Interest-Free Loans for Women Entrepreneurs to boost small businesses and empower women across the province. The Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) will provide financial support to graduates of Women Business Incubation Centers and skilled artisans. This initiative aims to remove financial barriers for women and expand economic opportunities in Punjab.
Eligible applicants can receive up to Rs500,000 in interest-free loans to start or grow their businesses. Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister, emphasized that government support for small businesses is crucial for sustainable economic growth. The scheme also targets women entrepreneurs in Punjab’s smaller cities to ensure equitable access to resources.
The program includes entrepreneurship training and technical training at Women Business Incubation Centers. Additionally, a Business Facilitation Centre will assist applicants with documentation and guidance. The Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) in Gujrat will provide ongoing mentorship, creating a strong support system for female entrepreneurs. These steps aim to strengthen industry and commerce participation among women.
By offering interest-free loans and practical training, the scheme empowers women to overcome financial challenges and contribute actively to the economy. PSIC reports that similar programs increased business launches by 35% in pilot cities last year. Skilled artisans and graduates can now expand their ventures without worrying about high-interest burdens.
Punjab’s interest-free loan initiative represents a significant step toward inclusive growth. Women entrepreneurs in Punjab can now access funding, training, and mentorship, ensuring stronger economic participation and long-term sustainability.
