Basant 2026: Punjab Govt Launches Emergency Safety Plan to ensure public safety during Lahore Basant celebrations. The Punjab government’s emergency plan aims to minimize risks to citizens and provide a swift response to emergencies. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed all departments to monitor public safety and enforce safety compliance during celebrations.
The emergency plan activation includes deploying over 1,200 rescue personnel and 56 ambulances across key locations in Lahore. Additionally, 24 fire vehicles and 300 rescue motorbikes will ensure rapid access in narrow streets and traffic-prone areas. Rescue 1122 operations will remain on high alert at 23 rescue stations, facilitating timely assistance during any incident.
Authorities have also sealed several dilapidated buildings in the Walled City of Lahore to prevent accidents during the festival. Transport arrangements during Basant are being strengthened to help festival visitors travel safely. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being communicated city-wide to ensure compliance and smooth coordination among emergency services.
Kite sales in Lahore reached Rs340 million in just two days, showing strong public enthusiasm. To bridge the supply-demand gap, equipment supply is now allowed in four additional districts. These measures will help citizens celebrate the Basant festival 2026 safely while reducing risks.
