Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated a modern cath lab at District Headquarters Hospital Jhang. She announced cardiac surgery services in Jhang to support emergency heart patients during the golden hour. Doctors can now treat heart cases quickly, so lives can be saved through timely medical care. The telemedicine system in Punjab allows patients to consult doctors using mobile-based technology.
Specialist consultants from Pakistan and abroad will join online consultations to guide local doctors. This system supports rural healthcare improvement in Pakistan and reduces pressure on major urban hospitals. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said equal healthcare access in Pakistan remains a core government priority. She stressed that poor and wealthy citizens will receive the same quality of treatment.
The Punjab Government also launched air ambulance services to transfer critical patients faster. Health officials confirmed that 16 cath labs started operations across Punjab within months. Cardiology services in Punjab expanded to Sahiwal, Murree, and Sargodha for regional coverage. Patients from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also receive treatment under the inclusive public healthcare services of Punjab.
Additional programs include clinics on wheels and field hospitals serving remote communities. Authorities distribute free medicines worth Rs100 billion, and home delivery supports chronic patients. Dialysis cards now provide treatment worth up to one million rupees per patient. The Nawaz Sharif Medical District in Lahore will include specialized hospitals for advanced care.
Facilities will cover cardiology, children’s health, cancer treatment, and genetic disorders. Modern Chinese cancer treatment technology will also be introduced.
