Why Solar Panel Prices Are Rising Rapidly in Pakistan in 2026

Why Solar Panel Prices Are Rising Rapidly in Pakistan in 2026. Local markets have seen a sharp increase in solar panel rates, affecting both residential and commercial buyers. The price hike is mainly due to higher global silver and copper prices, which have increased manufacturing costs for Chinese solar panels. As a result, the per-watt solar panel price has jumped significantly across different wattages, including 585, 645, and 720-watt panels.

Retailers report that a 585-watt solar panel now costs around Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 21,000, up from Rs. 16,000 last year. Meanwhile, 645-watt and 720-watt panels have seen even steeper rises, reaching Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 35,000, respectively. The Karachi Electronics Dealers Association highlights that strong public demand, coupled with import taxes on solar panels, is driving these increases further.

Solar energy demand in Pakistan continues to grow, but buyers now face higher upfront costs. Solar system batteries have also increased by approximately 10%, adding to the total cost of installing a system. Competition among local solar panel manufacturers affects pricing trends, but inventories remain high, slightly easing immediate shortages.

For consumers, understanding solar panel market trends and choosing the right wattage can help manage costs. Experts suggest monitoring the local market and looking for deals on bundled solar panels and batteries. Despite the short-term price rise, solar energy remains a long-term investment that reduces electricity bills and promotes renewable energy in Pakistan.
