Govt Launches Immediate Gas Relief for Domestic Consumers

Govt Launches Immediate Gas Relief for Domestic Consumers as winter gas shortages put pressure on households across Pakistan. The government, led by Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, has directed Sui gas companies to prioritize domestic supply and ensure uninterrupted service. This move aims to reduce the impact of winter energy challenges and support household gas consumption.

Officials emphasized that domestic gas consumers will benefit from an increase in supply, with utilities monitoring distribution and maintaining operational efficiency. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) have been instructed to submit weekly reports on demand and supply to the Petroleum Division. Daily operational monitoring will ensure timely adjustments in the gas distribution network.

Since January 6, gas availability increased from 691 to 746 MMCFD, partly due to higher Shiva gas field output, which rose from 55 to 65 MMCFD. Officials plan to divert gas from industries to households and consider weekly industrial shutdowns during peak winter.

These measures demonstrate Pakistan’s commitment to winter gas shortage solutions and energy policy management, ensuring homes receive reliable gas. By closely tracking industrial vs domestic gas allocation, authorities aim to maintain household comfort and reduce public complaints.

In conclusion, the government gas relief initiative provides immediate support to the domestic household gas supply. Through close collaboration between Sui gas companies, OGRA, and the Petroleum Division, Pakistan strengthens its energy security during winter.
