Pakistan Announces Landmark US-Iran Peace Agreement

Pakistan has announced a major diplomatic breakthrough after helping secure a historic US-Iran Peace Deal, a development that has already triggered a sharp decline in global oil prices and raised hopes for stability across the Middle East.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the US and Iran reached an agreement after talks involving Pakistan and other regional partners. The announcement comes after months of heightened tensions that disrupted energy markets and fueled concerns about a wider regional conflict.

The news immediately impacted global markets. Brent crude falls 4%, and US crude drops nearly 5% as geopolitical risks ease.

In addition, Pakistani officials say both countries agreed to an immediate and permanent halt to military operations on all fronts. The formal signing ceremony is expected to take place in Switzerland on June 19.

Accordingly, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked both Washington and Tehran for choosing diplomacy over confrontation. Moreover, he also thanked Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye for supporting the negotiations.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi confirms that Iran and the United States have finalized an understanding. US President Donald Trump welcomed the deal on social media and signaled support for normalized oil supplies.

The announcement has increased expectations that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen after months of disruption. The strategic waterway carries about one-fifth of global oil and LNG shipments, making it a key energy route.

Recent hostilities involving Iran, the United States, and Israel have raised fears of prolonged supply interruptions. Those concerns pushed oil prices higher and increased uncertainty in global energy markets.

However, despite the positive response, analysts caution that officials have not yet made key details of the agreement public. Questions remain about implementation mechanisms, security guarantees, and monitoring arrangements. These factors could continue to influence oil prices and investor sentiment in the coming days.
