The Digital Driving Licence system has been introduced in Islamabad to make the licensing process faster, simpler, and fully paperless. The Islamabad Traffic Police has officially announced that the entire licensing framework has been converted into a modern digital system aimed at improving convenience for citizens and reducing manual paperwork.
Under the new Digital Driving Licence initiative, applicants can now complete most steps online or through digital channels. Authorities have removed the traditional requirement of carrying multiple documents. Citizens now only need their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) to apply for and receive their driving licence.
Officials confirmed that users can now pay licence fees through banking apps and other digital payment platforms. This shift eliminates the need for cash handling at licensing centres. Moreover, it reduces waiting times and streamlines the overall process for applicants.
Police officials said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed the introduction of the reform. The goal is to modernize public service delivery and bring government departments in line with digital governance standards. Additionally, the new system will reduce human error and improve transparency in licensing operations.
