A new Karachi airport daycare facility has been launched at Jinnah International Airport to support working mothers employed at the airport. The initiative aims to provide a safe and comfortable childcare environment for female staff during working hours.
The daycare centre was introduced by the Pakistan Airports Authority as part of efforts to improve workplace support services for women. Officials said the facility will initially accommodate children between the ages of three months and three years.
According to airport authorities, the daycare centre will operate from 9 am to 5 pm during its first phase. The facility will be available to all female employees working at the airport.
Officials added that authorities are considering plans to expand the centre into a 24-hour childcare service in the future. The proposed expansion would help mothers working night shifts and rotating schedules at the airport.
The initiative reflects a broader effort to create a more supportive work environment for women in Pakistan’s aviation sector. Many working mothers face challenges balancing professional responsibilities with childcare needs, especially in demanding workplaces like airports.
The Pakistan Airports Authority recently introduced several passenger-focused projects as well. These include plans for electric cart services at major airports in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Multan to improve mobility for travelers.
Experts say workplace daycare centres can boost female employment by easing childcare concerns and improving employee support.
Working women welcomed the Karachi airport daycare centre for supporting employee welfare and inclusion.
