The OPF scholarship program has been launched to support the children and spouses of overseas Pakistanis who face financial challenges while pursuing higher education. The initiative is introduced by the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) to make education more accessible for families living abroad and contributing to Pakistan’s economy through remittances.
The program comes as many overseas families struggle with rising education costs in both local and international institutions. With this new scholarship, OPF aims to reduce that burden and encourage students to continue their academic journey without financial stress.
According to details, the OPF scholarship program covers students at multiple education levels, including intermediate, undergraduate, and postgraduate studies. It is designed to support a wide range of academic fields such as medicine, engineering, business, and social sciences.
Eligibility and coverage details
To benefit from the scholarship, applicants must meet specific requirements set by the OPF. A minimum academic performance of 60% marks or a 2.5 CGPA is required in the most recent examination. Additionally, either the student’s parent or spouse must be a registered member of OPF, which is automatically granted upon obtaining the Protector of Emigrants stamp.
Another key condition is the income limit. The total monthly family income must not exceed Rs 200,000. This ensures that financial assistance reaches families who need it the most.
The scholarship is available for Intermediate, undergraduate (MBBS, BDS, engineering), and postgraduate (Master’s, MS) students. OPF has stated that the initiative aims to promote equal access to quality education for overseas Pakistani families.
Education experts have welcomed the move, calling it a positive step toward supporting the diaspora community. Many believe this program will help reduce dropout rates and encourage higher education enrollment among overseas Pakistanis.
This initiative helps OPF strengthen ties with overseas citizens and support their children’s education.
