The Karachi Board fake pages issue has prompted swift action by education authorities, with the Karachi Board of Intermediate Education formally reporting multiple fraudulent social media accounts to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.
Officials said the board identified several fake pages and groups operating on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. These accounts were allegedly sharing misleading educational updates under the board’s name, creating confusion among students and parents.
According to details shared by the board, at least 24 fake Facebook pages, eight Instagram accounts, and one WhatsApp account were found impersonating official communication channels. The content posted on these platforms included unverified announcements, exam-related claims, and misleading academic information.
The Karachi Board of Intermediate Education has now written to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency requesting immediate action. The board urged authorities to block fake accounts and take strict action against those spreading false information.
Officials warned that such Karachi board fake pages pose a serious risk to students, especially during exam periods when learners depend heavily on official updates. They also raised concerns that some of these pages could be linked to attempts at spreading exam-related misinformation.
An additional director confirmed that action has already been initiated following the complaint. Cybercrime authorities are reviewing the accounts to check their activity and links to misinformation networks.
The board advised students and parents to follow only official Karachi Board announcements through verified channels. Authorities emphasized that any important academic update is always shared through authentic platforms to avoid confusion.
Officials said social media will be monitored and legal action taken against fake content and impersonation. The incident highlights rising misinformation in education, where fake accounts mislead students before correction.
