Sindh CM Approves Rs. 13 Billion for Repair of 409 Karachi Roads, aiming to improve the city’s road infrastructure. The project will enhance traffic flow and safety while supporting urban infrastructure development. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah highlighted that both patchwork road repairs and full reconstruction will be carried out across major districts.
A total of 409 roads have been identified for repair under this initiative. Of these, 400 roads will undergo patchwork repairs, while nine roads in critical areas will be fully reconstructed. The Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs) will implement the rehabilitation plans within their respective jurisdictions. District-wise road repair data shows Malir with the highest number of damaged roads at 98, followed by West Karachi at 81. Keamari roads have the highest estimated repair cost of Rs. 2.32 billion.
The total Rs. 13 billion grant is part of a larger Rs. 21.53 billion package, which includes Rs. 1.64 billion for water and sewerage works in Karachi. Authorities ensure that they upgrade roads and essential urban utilities simultaneously. Selected routes in Gulberg, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Sohrab Goth, Orangi, Manghopir, Saddar, and Landhi will receive end-to-end rehabilitation.
Experts believe that this road rehabilitation in Karachi will reduce traffic congestion, improve commuter safety, and enhance economic activity. Road reconstruction projects and patchwork repairs will create job opportunities and boost local businesses. Overall, the project marks a significant step toward infrastructure improvement in Sindh and long-term urban development in Karachi.
