Karachi Operation: Security Forces Seize 2000+ kg Explosives. The city authorities foiled a major terrorist plot. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) led the intelligence-led operation, recovering more than two tonnes of explosives. This seizure in Pakistan prevented potential attacks and protected civilian safety in Karachi.
The operation began after verified intelligence indicated a militant network storing explosives in a remote hideout. Additional IG Zulfiqar Larik and DIG Ghulam Azfar Mahesar supervised the raid. Continuous surveillance over several weeks helped identify the suspects and their activities. Authorities arrested three individuals: Jaleel Ahmed alias Fareed, Niaz Qadir alias King, and Hamdan alias Fareed. Investigations revealed links to Indian-backed militant groups and organizations like the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Baloch Liberation Front (BLF).
Explosives were found in over 30 plastic drums and five metal gas cylinders, stored approximately 35–40 km from Karachi. Authorities also recovered a truck carrying additional materials. Militants had stored mostly urea-based explosives, commonly used in Balochistan networks. Authorities suspected Afghan explosives trafficking, as evidence showed militants moved the materials through remote mountainous routes into Pakistan. The bomb disposal unit safely neutralized all explosives on site, highlighting preventive anti-terror measures by the authorities.
This Karachi security operation emphasizes the importance of intelligence-led operations in urban safety. Follow-up raids and preventive measures continue to dismantle the network completely. The arrests and explosive seizure mark a significant success for law enforcement and demonstrate Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism. Civilian safety in Karachi remains a priority as authorities work to prevent future attacks.
