DRAP to Publish Raw Material Quotas for Key Medicines Online

DRAP to Publish Raw Material Quotas for Key Medicines Online to Boost Transparency, marking a significant shift in Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector. The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) will now allocate controlled drugs’ raw materials for sedatives and painkiller medicines through a digital platform, ensuring better transparency and efficiency. This online quota system replaces the traditional hard copy application process.

Under the new system, pharmaceutical companies will submit electronic applications for the 2026 controlled drugs quota via the DRAP e-App. Authorities have issued formal notifications to the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to streamline coordination. The department has already completed staff training for the online allocation system, ensuring a smooth transition.

The Controlled Drugs Quota Allocation System allows companies to receive their raw material quotas online. Allocation certificates will also be issued digitally, reducing delays and increasing accountability. DRAP officials emphasized that this digital approach enhances transparency and minimizes human errors in quota distribution.

Starting January 1, 2026, applicants must submit all quota applications through the e-App system. DRAP will no longer accept hard copy submissions, reinforcing its commitment to a modern and efficient process. This shift will help pharmaceutical companies plan production better and ensure a steady supply of essential medicines across Pakistan.

The initiative also strengthens monitoring of controlled drugs and prevents misuse, aligning with national safety standards. DRAP uses an online platform to ensure fair and transparent quota allocation.
