Meo Hospital Lahore staff are keeping all three patients in the isolation ward to prevent human-to-human transmission. Hospital checkups and tests are ongoing for the suspected monkeypox case. Furthermore, the National Institute of Health (NIH) reports that Pakistan has recorded 15 monkeypox cases since August 2024. African rodents and non-human primates likely act as natural reservoirs and can transmit the virus to humans.
