Punjab has been placed on high alert as law enforcement agencies intensify efforts to ensure public safety. Dr. Usman Anwar – Inspector General of Punjab Police chaired a video-link meeting from the Central Police Office in Lahore, directing immediate security operations across Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and other districts. The move comes amid rising concerns about terrorism, crime, and public safety in Punjab.
The police have launched comprehensive sweep and combing operations in collaboration with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), SDPOs, and SHOs. Authorities have emphasized CCTV surveillance, security guards, and emergency evacuation arrangements to protect students and staff.
Authorities are also stepping up digital monitoring and profiling of individuals entering Punjab. Monitoring banned groups, intensifying door-to-door checks, and enforcing traffic and anti-narcotics measures are key to curbing crime and terrorism. The Safe City Authority is reviewing and connecting CCTV cameras in major cities to improve real-time surveillance and detect criminals.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directs law enforcement to coordinate with Motorway Police, register bus staff, and enhance Punjab’s public safety. Moreover, officials, including Additional IGs Rao Abdul Kareem, Muhammad Waseem Sial, and Muhammad Ali Naikokara, actively enforce security through unified measures.
