Punjab Spends Rs. 110M on Bike Safety Ahead of Basant, as authorities aim to improve motorcycle safety during the Basant festival 2026. The Punjab government is distributing 1,000,000 safety rods to motorcyclists through 100 safety points across Lahore. This initiative ensures Punjab’s road safety and reduces risks in crowded areas.

The city has been divided into Red, Yellow, and Green Zones for better traffic management in Lahore. Walled City Lahore includes 48 Red Zone localities, Ichhra has 32 Yellow Zone areas, and Liberty features 20 Green Zone areas. District administration and traffic police will manage these zones with emergency response teams and road safety camps, ensuring smooth flow and crowd control.

Motorcycle safety measures are strictly enforced. Riders must wear helmets, and loader rickshaws are restricted in sensitive areas. Officials report that helmet enforcement for two-wheelers has increased compliance, while safety rods are helping prevent accidents. These rods serve as visible safety markers on roads, reducing collisions and improving motorcyclist safety during Basant.

To ease travel, the Punjab government has launched a free shuttle service in Lahore. A total of 695 buses operate between Muridke, Sharaqpur, Raiwind, Manga Mandi, Thokar Niaz Baig, Kasur, and Chungi Amar Sidhu. Public transport during Basant supports safer travel, while reducing road congestion in high-risk neighborhoods.

Authorities hope these measures will lower accidents and improve overall public safety. Punjab Spends Rs. 110M on Bike Safety Ahead of Basant demonstrates proactive planning and commitment to motorcyclist safety.
