PTI Founder Imran Khan Granted Medical Exam and Phone Call

PTI Founder Imran Khan Granted Medical Exam and Phone Call as the Supreme Court took action on his urgent health concerns. The court ordered that an eye examination be conducted and allowed a phone call with his sons before February 16. This decision ensures both medical care and family communication rights are respected.

A two-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and including Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, heard the petitions regarding the Toshakhana criminal case. During the Supreme Court hearing on the PTI founder’s health, judges said detainees’ medical care is a priority. Barrister Salman Safdar, representing Imran Khan, reported that the PTI leader experienced sudden blurred vision and could see only 10 to 15 percent in one eye.

The court ordered doctors, including Dr. Faisal Sultan and Asim Yousuf, to examine Imran Khan’s eyes before February 16. The Attorney General confirmed that the state is responsible for providing adequate healthcare for prisoners. Jail medical facilities at Adiala Jail were inspected to ensure proper treatment and security arrangements.

The order allows Imran Khan a phone call with his sons, giving him vital family contact. The court denied a family member but allowed reading material if recommended by doctors.

This intervention highlights the apex court directives regarding prisoner rights in Pakistan. Legal experts note that such measures are crucial to uphold human rights and medical access during trial proceedings. The Supreme Court’s decision balances healthcare for detainees and ongoing judicial oversight in high-profile cases.
