The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is finalizing key regulatory preparations for the 5G spectrum auction. Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima, confirmed that the process will be completed by early February, ahead of the Ramadan auction timeline.

The Information Memorandum PTA is currently under review by telecom operators. Stakeholder consultations are ongoing to ensure quality of service (QoS) telecom and proper spectrum allocation Pakistan-wide. The 5G auction in Pakistan is expected to significantly improve digital infrastructure in major cities, offering faster connectivity and supporting network upgrades. Experts suggest that 5G services in major cities could be available within six months after the auction, benefiting both consumers and businesses.

Once the PTA finalizes the framework, 3G and 4G service improvement will also follow. PTA is incorporating telecom operators’ feedback to ensure smooth integration of 5G with existing networks. The regulatory preparations for 5G aim to encourage investment in Pakistan’s telecom sector while maintaining high-quality standards. Shaza Fatima highlighted that the policy framework balances rapid deployment with consumer protection, ensuring a strong foundation for Pakistan’s digital growth.
