Pakistan Railways Recovers Land Valued at Rs. 11.39 Billion: Key Details and Impact after a series of coordinated police operations across the country. The Pakistan Railways (PR) Police reclaimed 506 acres of illegally occupied railway land and registered 1,049 cases against land mafia, arresting 1,099 suspects. This significant recovery reinforces efforts to protect railway property and curb illegal encroachments.
The operations were discussed in a meeting chaired by IG Rai Tahir at the Central Police Office with divisional SPs from Lahore, Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar. Officials highlighted anti-encroachment measures, passenger and train security, and broader crime control operations conducted in 2025.
In addition to land recovery, the PR Police tackled railway-related crimes, registering 3,681 cases nationwide and arresting 4,197 individuals. Theft of railway material led to 493 cases and the recovery of stolen goods worth Rs 9.4 million. The police also acted against illegal arms smuggling, seizing weapons including Kalashnikovs, rifles, pistols, and nearly 2,000 bullets, with 72 suspects arrested.
Narcotics trafficking on trains was another focus, with 218 cases and arrests. Authorities recovered large amounts of heroin, charas, opium, ice, bhang, and liquor. The PR Police also reunited 413 runaway boys and 245 girls with their families and returned lost goods worth Rs 33.4 million to passengers.
This recovery of land valued at Rs 11.39 billion marks a crucial step in safeguarding Pakistan Railways’ assets. It reflects the commitment of law enforcement to curb land mafia activities, enhance public safety, and protect the integrity of the national railway system.
