Pakistan Railways Halts Train Operations in the Quetta Division

Pakistan Railways Halts Train Operations in the Quetta Division, causing major disruptions for passengers traveling across Balochistan. The suspension affects key routes, including the Quetta to Peshawar train, and comes after technical issues and security incidents in the region. Authorities have confirmed that the halt will continue until operations are fully restored.

The Jaffar Express cancelled its service from Quetta to Peshawar, while trains 221-Up and 222-Down departing from Quetta were also called off. Trains arriving from Peshawar will now terminate at the Jacobabad train terminus, but the scheduled departures from Jacobabad remain unaffected. Pakistan Railways assured passengers that full refunds for cancelled tickets will be issued promptly.

Officials said the suspension follows a series of coordinated security incidents affecting railways in Balochistan. Recent counterterrorism operations killed 197 militants from the banned Fitna al-Hindustan group, while 22 security personnel were martyred. These attacks have directly contributed to travel disruption in Balochistan, leaving many passengers stranded and dependent on alternative transport.

Technical problems in railway infrastructure have also been reported, adding to the delay in the resumption of train services. Passengers are advised to stay updated with the latest Pakistan Railways updates before planning travel. Authorities are working to restore normal operations while ensuring safety across the Quetta division.

The suspension has highlighted the vulnerabilities in regional rail travel, but officials promisea gradual resumption. Travelers on the Quetta to Peshawar train and other routes should expect revised schedules and check for official announcements regularly.
