Pakistan Approves Five Health Projects Under Uraan Pakistan as part of a major push to improve public healthcare services. Pakistan approves five health projects to strengthen access, affordability, and quality nationwide. The decision reflects growing public healthcare investment in Pakistan, which needs to meet rising population demands.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal chaired the Central Development Working Party meeting in Islamabad. The Planning Commission of Pakistan reviewed multiple Pakistan health sector projects during the session. Three CDWP-approved projects received immediate clearance, but two ECNEC health schemes moved forward for final approval.
A major highlight includes revisions to the Sehat Sahulat Program in Pakistan. The initiative expands the health insurance coverage that Pakistan requires for vulnerable families. It targets residents of Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Officials say the program may reduce out-of-pocket healthcare costs by up to 60 percent.
The forum also approved public hospital development in Islamabad through the Jinnah Hospital Islamabad project. The hospital’s bed capacity will increase, and modern IT systems will be added. Solar power, biomedical equipment, and HVAC upgrades support healthcare infrastructure development goals.
Another approved plan strengthens the disease surveillance system in Pakistan through IDSRS integration. The project links the Public Health Laboratories Network and the FELTP training nationwide. Border Health Services Pakistan will also improve disease monitoring and emergency response.
Federal Government Polyclinic Hospital will receive cardiology and departmental upgrades. These steps support government health reforms Pakistan continues under the Uraan Pakistan initiative. Mustafa Kamal from the Ministry of National Health Services supported the proposals.
Ahsan Iqbal stressed operational readiness after completion because delays reduce public impact. Pakistan approves five health projects to reinforce the national health programs it depends on. These reforms aim to deliver long-term healthcare support for low-income families.
