Pakistan Announces Rs. 100 Billion EV Subsidy Program Till 2030

Pakistan Announces Rs. 100 Billion EV Subsidy Program Till 2030, aiming to accelerate electric vehicle adoption and promote clean and sustainable mobility. The government has approved financial and capital support under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Scheme. This program covers electric bikes, rickshaws, loaders, and other EVs to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Phase I of the Prime Minister’s Electric Vehicle Adoption Scheme is already operational. It supports 41,000 electric vehicles, including 40,000 electric bikes and 1,000 electric rickshaws and loaders. Beneficiaries under the Self Finance Scheme for EVs pay full vehicle prices, then receive up to Rs. 80,000 reimbursement directly through the State Bank of Pakistan. Meanwhile, the Bank Finance Scheme for EVs offers easy installments via participating banks.

The New Energy Vehicles Policy (NEVP) 2025–2030 ensures a long-term framework for domestic electric vehicle manufacturing. OEM participation in EV subsidy distribution is mandatory, and all vehicles must have federal or provincial registration. Phase-II will extend support to an additional 78,170 electric vehicles with a total capital subsidy of Rs. 8.95 billion for 2025–26.

This Rs. 100 billion allocation not only encourages electric vehicle adoption but also creates jobs and strengthens local manufacturing. The Engineering Development Board (EDB), under the Ministry of Industries and Production, coordinates implementation with banks, OEMs, and NADRA. Verified EV applicants already receiving subsidies show strong progress in the operational stage of disbursement.

The program reflects Pakistan’s commitment to clean and sustainable mobility. By combining financial incentives, easy financing, and clear policy guidelines, the government aims to transform urban transport. Electric bikes in Pakistan and other EVs will now become more affordable and accessible for citizens.
