Pakistan & Brazil Strengthen Partnership to Boost Livestock Sector

Pakistan and Brazil Strengthen Partnership to Boost Livestock Sector, aiming to modernize dairy and meat industries. This collaboration brings advanced Brazilian genetics and modern technology to improve Pakistan’s livestock sector. The initiative is expected to enhance food security and expand livestock export potential.

Under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), both countries plan to form a joint working group. It will focus on meat processing, feedlot fattening, and traceability systems in livestock. These steps will increase efficiency and transparency across Pakistan’s livestock industry.

High-quality cattle imports from Brazil have already begun through the Green Pakistan Livestock Initiative (GPLI). Dr Muhammad Junaid, a consultant at the Federal Ministry of National Food Security and Research, highlighted that cross-breeding livestock will strengthen the genetic pool. This approach improves lactation potential, especially for non-descript cows that form nearly 45% of Pakistan’s cattle population.

The partnership also supports dairy industry modernization and meat industry development. Moreover, introducing advanced Brazilian genetics enhances milk yield and meat quality, while at the same time, modern feedlot fattening methods reduce overall production costs. These efforts create employment opportunities in agriculture and attract new investors to Pakistan’s livestock sector.

Pakistan and Brazil’s collaboration reflects a long-term strategy to make the country a competitive player in global livestock markets. Improved traceability systems and technology adoption will ensure safer food products and stronger export capabilities.

This initiative represents a major step toward sustainable livestock growth, better food security, and economic development. Joint planning and modern techniques will help Pakistan’s livestock sector achieve higher productivity and gain international recognition.
