Govt Plans to Deploy 800,000 Pakistanis Abroad for Jobs in 2026, aiming to create new opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled workers. This government employment initiative seeks to send Pakistani workers overseas, especially to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Korea, and Japan. Officials say the plan will strengthen Pakistan’s economy through increased remittances and enhance workers’ global experience.
Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain highlighted that around 740,000 Pakistanis worked abroad last year, and the new initiative will expand opportunities for 800,000 workers in 2026. The government has introduced soft-skills training programs to improve global employability and prepare workers for diverse job sectors.
The initiative also focuses on female workforce opportunities, lowering the minimum age for women seeking overseas jobs from 35 to 25 years. This change aims to empower women and ensure equal participation in international employment. On average, Pakistani workers abroad remit around $1,800 per month, showing the economic benefits of overseas jobs.
To facilitate employment, the government has carried out comprehensive reforms for overseas Pakistanis, including EOBI digitalization, complaint management, and investment return improvements. Help desks in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi guide workers and employers. These steps ensure a business-friendly environment and strengthen industrial support while protecting workers’ rights.
Overall, overseas employment in Pakistan offers better career prospects, higher incomes, and skill development for citizens. With strong government backing, the plan is expected to improve livelihoods and increase Pakistan’s global workforce presence in 2026.
