Free Cancer Treatment in Pakistan: Govt Signs Deal with Roche

Free Cancer Treatment in Pakistan: Govt Signs Deal with Roche has brought hope for thousands of patients. The Pakistan government and the Roche pharmaceutical company have joined forces to provide free cancer medicines in Pakistan. Under this initiative, patients from Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will benefit. The program starts with 745 patients receiving life-saving medicines at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal emphasized that improving healthcare infrastructure and cancer treatment accessibility remains a top priority. The program is funded with 70% support from Roche and 30% from the Pakistan government. This public healthcare initiative aims to ensure patients have access to oncology medicines without financial burden.

The program also highlights modern cancer treatment methods. In Lahore, Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the Coablation Cancer Treatment Centre. This advanced medical technology in Pakistan offers a 60-minute, pain-free cancer therapy without chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Each machine costs Rs 250 million, and probes are valued at $5,500, with Rs 5 billion allocated for expansion. The facility demonstrates the government’s commitment to provincial healthcare programs and public healthcare initiatives.

This collaboration improves cancer treatment programs across the country. Islamabad cancer patients and those in remote areas like Gilgit-Baltistan now have better access to high-quality care. Modern treatment alternatives reduce pain and improve survival chances. Combined efforts by Roche and Pakistan’s healthcare authorities show a strong commitment to cancer care and oncology healthcare development.

The deal ensures that free cancer medicines in Pakistan reach patients nationwide. This program is a landmark achievement in government healthcare funding and cancer treatment accessibility, offering hope to thousands of families.
