CM Punjab to Kickstart Faisalabad Orange Line Project After Eid, marking a major milestone in Punjab’s urban transport development. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will lay the foundation stone for this Rs 80 billion transport project, signaling a new era for public transportation infrastructure in Faisalabad. The project aims to provide efficient and reliable commuting through a 21.3-kilometer Orange Line corridor connecting Faisal Town on Jaranwala Road to Tahirpura on Jhang Road.
The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) has finalized plans for 27 metro buses and 2 trams to operate along the route. The Orange Line will include 21 transport stations, 2 depots, and 6 U-turns to ensure smooth vehicle movement. Authorities recently approved the PC-1 for the project, confirming its financial and structural feasibility. CM Punjab stressed strict construction site safety and coordination with WASA, FESCO, Sui Northern Gas, and PTCL for utility relocation.
Traffic management and alternative traffic plans will minimize disruptions for commuters. The Municipal Corporation of Faisalabad, along with the Parks and Horticulture Authority, will oversee environmental and urban planning aspects. Faisalabad’s metro bus and tram services aim to ease congestion, improve commuting, and expand mass transit.
Once complete, the Faisalabad Orange Line will set a benchmark for future urban transport projects in Punjab. It promises better connectivity, safer travel, and sustainable urban growth. The foundation-laying ceremony after Eid will officially start construction and reinforce the government’s commitment to modern public transportation infrastructure.
