Pakistan’s HEC Introduces Standardized IT Test for Graduates

Pakistan’s HEC Introduces Standardized IT Test for Graduates, aiming to improve IT graduate employability and align university education with industry needs. This National Skill Competency Test, designed by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in collaboration with the Ministry of IT Pakistan, PSEB, and P@SHA, evaluates practical skills and knowledge. IT students in the 7th and 8th semesters can take this free IT skill assessment to enhance career prospects.

The HEC IT test covers core subjects including Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence programs, and Data Science education. It ensures students meet global technology industry standards and gain industry readiness. High-performing candidates earn academic credit for students and a joint certification from HEC, PSEB, and P@SHA. They also receive priority access to internships, apprenticeships, and international certification programs, making them attractive to local and international employers.

Universities are required to ensure full participation. Results will contribute to institutional benchmarking, student performance ranking, and overall academic and career advancement opportunities. Institutions failing to register students or appoint focal persons may face lower rankings. This standardized test for IT students promotes accountability and encourages universities to improve their teaching quality.

By participating in the HEC IT test, students benefit from recognition, national talent pool access, and practical exposure aligned with industry expectations. The program strengthens IT graduate employability, helping students compete in Pakistan’s growing tech sector.
