$10 Million Initiative Aims to Enroll Out-of-School Children in AJK

$10 Million Education Initiative Aims to Enroll Out-of-School Children in AJK, focusing on improving access to education in remote and underserved areas. The project, supported by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Government of AJK, marks a major step in expanding educational opportunities for children. By combining community outreach programs and school facility improvements, this $10 million education project seeks to connect thousands of children with learning opportunities.

The initiative is implemented by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department of AJK and began planning on January 19, 2026. Its main goal is to identify out-of-school children and enroll them in formal schools through targeted enrollment campaigns for children. By strengthening institutional capacity, the program ensures that schools can retain students effectively while providing quality education. Experts predict that such interventions will improve literacy rates and contribute to broader educational development goals in Pakistan.

In addition, the initiative emphasizes inclusive learning environments, providing educational resources and support for children with special needs. Community engagement is key, so parents and local leaders are involved in outreach efforts. Improving school facilities, including classrooms and learning materials, is another core focus.

With proper implementation, student retention strategies, and ongoing community support, thousands of children are expected to benefit. This program demonstrates how focused investment and targeted interventions in schools can transform education in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
